Wind Grid

DIY Renewable Energy Systems For Your Home

Had enough of paying for your electricity?  You are not alone.A lot more people are switching every day to alternative energy sources rather than rely on the national grid.Household energy bills reached new heights in 2008 as global oil prices rocketed.  Over the next few years oil prices will soar again as remaining reserves become more expensive to extract.  So it makes a lot of sense to turn to other alternative sources of energy to save not only money in the future, but also to help save the planet as well.

When it comes to using renewable energy to power your home, either fully or partially, most people opt to use Wind Power or Solar Energy, as these are the easiest and most reliable options.  Often, homeowners will combine the two sources with a battery pack.  By setting up their system in this way they are assuring their supply. For example, when prevailing winds are not strong enough to provide enough power, requirements can be topped up with the solar panels.  And with a battery pack as part of the system, energy can also be stored to be used at times when the turbine or Solar Cells are not keeping up with your household demands.

If you want to install Your Own Wind Generator or solar energy systems, you basically have two choices. You can either make your own energy system of buy one off the shelf.  The latter option is cheaper, and makes sense if you have the time to do it.Ther are several DIY renewable kits on the market today, plus there are guides available to show you how to build your own systems and source the components yourself, all for as little as $200!  That sort of cost has to be attractive!

To read more about building your own systems, and to see which kits and manuals I recommend, take a look at Home Made Windmill and read my reviews there.

Grid Converters for Photovoltaic and Wind Power Systems (Wiley - IEEE)

Grid Converters for Photovoltaic and Wind Power Systems (Wiley – IEEE)

$60.00

Grid converters are the key player in renewable energy integration. The high penetration of renewable energy systems is calling for new more stringent grid requirements. As a consequence, the grid converters should be able to exhibit advanced functions like: dynamic control of active and reactive power, operation within a wide range of voltage and frequency, voltage ride-through capability, reacti…

Wind Energy Systems: Solutions for Power Quality and Stabilization

Wind Energy Systems: Solutions for Power Quality and Stabilization

$100.00

Unlike conventional power plants, wind plants emit no air pollutants or greenhouse gases—and wind energy is a free, renewable resource. However, the induction machines commonly used as wind generators have stability problems similar to the transient stability of synchronous machines. To minimize power, frequency, and voltage fluctuations caused by network faults or random wind speed variations, …
